Motorized or Manual Treadmill?
Motorized treadmills are highly considered to be the top of the line while manual treadmills are pretty much a thing of the past. Some people might even claim that they have never even heard of a manual treadmill let alone seen or used one. It was pretty much the first way of treadmills but was quickly put down due to the hard start up. Meaning that you must start the treadmill up using your own legs and plenty of muscle power until you work the machine up to the desired pace. The over use of the muscles needed to start up the manual treadmill is the biggest reason why the manual treadmills were a failure. Because of the added stress the joints became damaged over only a short period of time, in other words bad for your body’s business and all around well-being.
Motorized treadmills are more widely used than manual treadmills by a large percentage. For the most part, motorized treadmills burn more calories but seem to build less muscle than a manual treadmill because of how the motor keeps the track at the desired pace for you. The manual treadmill will no doubt build more muscle but it will not burn as many calories. Fortunately, if you are looking to use a motorized treadmill and worry about how you want to build muscle as well have no fear because there is an incline feature built in to allow the user to walk or run at an incline, like walking up hill, therefore building and strengthening all of the muscles in the legs from the ankles to the thighs. You can also spice up your work out by adding the use of 1 pound hand weights to 5 pound hand weights, depending upon your beginner to advanced treadmill user status. That way you can begin building muscle in your arms, shoulders, and even your upper back just by doing a few simple lifts and movements with the use of hand weights.
The fact that the manual treadmill causes all of that tension and stress on your joints should be enough to defer anyone from using one. If you goal is to build muscle then you should not depend upon a manual treadmill, instead you should work out on a motorized treadmill only for 20 minutes or so and then work out using a weight machine. The all around best thing to use if you are looking to lose weight by way of calorie burning is to use the motorized treadmill. It has a nice amount of health benefits included with it such as the cardiovascular benefits. By using a motorized treadmill you can increase the all around blood flow in your body that includes the brain, the heart, the lungs, and all of the muscles throughout your body. Your health will steadily increase simply by working out on a motorized treadmill on a regular basis. Remain very weary of using a manual treadmill due to the hazard it can be to your much needed joints.
Thus there are benefits for both the motorized and manual treadmills. However a motorized treadmill has many more benefits and less negatives. Benefits include the motorized treadmill being more user-friendly, having more advanced features and being less strenuous on your body. The main benefit of a manual treadmill is that it is cheap in comparison to its counterpart.
